This Adults-only, All-inclusive Resort Feels Like a Caribbean Escape — in the Florida Keys

With its toes-in-the-sand dining, palm-tree-lined beaches, and extensive rate, you may think Bungalows Key Largo belongs on a Caribbean island. However you do not need a passport to go to the just true adults-only, all-encompassing resort in the Florida Keys. Opened in 2019, the resort has 135 private cottages– each with its own outdoor rain shower and soaking tub– two pools, and relatively endless locations to relax and soak up the sun, fruity cocktail in hand, of course.
Found 63 miles from Miami International Airport, Bungalows Key Largo seems like you’re actually getting away– without having to go all that far. When you step inside evictions, the Overseas Highway vanishes in the background and you enter a world of completely manicured grounds dotted with light turquoise lounges, hot pink bougainvillea, and emerald tropical foliage– a fresh take on the retro Florida beach resorts of the past.
The resort’s prime waterside area, lovely and roomy bungalows, and over-21 policy make this a perfect location for grownups looking for a long weekend island escape– whether for a romantic getaway or a ladies journey. In my case, the resort was the perfect spot for a completely peaceful women weekend vacation with my sister this May.
Our first night kicked off with a sundown catamaran cruise– total with snacks, wine and beer, and some light yacht rock– followed by dinner and some nighttime home entertainment. One of the best parts about taking an extensive getaway is knowing that nearly whatever is looked after for you so you don’t have to fastidiously prepare every minute of your vacation.
With plenty of areas to spread out, we never ever needed to stress over getting a cabana at the chill, greenery-surrounded Zen Pool or a shaded lounge near the more lively Sunset Pool. Like numerous “beaches” in the Florida Keys, there isn’t a sandy entryway to the beach (you need to stroll down steps to swim in the saltwater) but there are drifting rings where you can unwind before strolling back to the sandy areas on land.

In addition to the sundown catamaran cruising, highlights of our stay consisted of a celebration cruise on the tiki boat and a group karaoke night that had us dancing in the sand and laughing up until our cheeks hurt. When we weren’t splashing around the ocean or swimming pool, we were hanging out at the thatched-roof tiki bar, delighting in a mai tai by the swimming pool, or enjoying the breeze from the Living Room lounge.
We sipped and ate our method through the resort’s five dining locations: Fish Tales, Sea Señor, Bogie and Bacall’s, Sunset Tiki Bar, and Hemingway Bar, and snacked as we relaxed at both swimming pools. Sea Señor wins among the resort’s dining establishments for its waterfront, toes-in-the-sand seating that uses an ideal sunset consider as you talk over margaritas and nachos (and actually, what could be much better for a women weekend getaway?). The Hemingway Bar, motivated by famous Keys citizen Ernest Hemingway, can be found in a close 2nd– its creative mixed drinks go beyond the basic frozen piña colada you discover at the majority of complete resorts (although we’re sure they ‘d make a mean frozen beverage, too).
Before you stay at any complete resort, it is necessary to check out the small print so you understand precisely what to anticipate from your stay. Meals at 5 restaurants, many alcohols, use of the cruiser bikes and some non-motorized water sports equipment, home entertainment, valet parking, and cabanas and loungers at the beaches and swimming pools across the home are all included, together with your lodgings, in the rate at Bungalows Key Largo. Note that adventures, like the catamaran cruise and tiki boat trip discussed above, are surcharges, as are premium alcohols, in-room dining, day spa services, and most notably, gratuities.

Miami International Airport is the closest major airport to the resort, followed by Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Since it’s an extensive home, we didn’t plan to leave throughout our journey, so we took an Uber to the resort from MIA and organized a vehicle service to go back to the airport at the end of our stay.
